Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions
Why is Tree Trimming is so expensive?

There was a time when we did Tree Trimming with ropes, ladders, and spikes on our boots. Cheaper but needless to say, Very dangerous.

Today we do it with expensive hydraulic lift booms. More expensive but much safer. We believe in Safety First.

Also, unlike some, we are fully insured with Liability Insurance and offer Workers Comp for all employees. Fuel prices and equipment have gone straight up in price due to inflation. It all adds up folks if you want to choose a company that means business and can deliver very good results.

When should I prune?

Little limbs can be trimmed year-round. Big limbs need to be done while they are dormant in the colder months.

Can you reach tall trees?

Yes, we have a 45' tall hydraulic lift. It is safer than a ladder.

What do you do with the wood?

If you don't want it, we will haul it off at no charge unless there is a charge to dump.

Are there any particular trees that are more dangerous to have around your house?

Pecan trees are more brittle than oak trees. This being said, pecan limbs over a house or driveway need to be kept trimmed.

Did the 2021 freeze affect one tree more than others?

The 2021 freeze killed many Arizona Ash trees as well as Mulberry trees.

Do you grind stumps?

We can definietkly grind stumps. We have a stump grinding machine.

We do not bid by the tree. We simply bid by how long it will take to complete a job.

Are you negotiable on your prices?

We are always somewhat negotiable on prices. I'm happy to work with anyone the best I can. Although in order to negotiate it needs to be on a larger scale or bigger job of at least 2-3 trees.

Do you use bleach on your saws after each job?

Yes, we do. We spray them every time so as to not contract any diseases from job to job.

How many employees do you have?

Generally, we have 2 employees. One will be up in the bucket trimming and the other will be doing ground work. Cleaning brush up with a rake and cutting wood in sizable pieces.

Is the owner onsite also?

Yes, I bring a mobile shop trailer that is enclosed. Not many people do this. I keep all the chainsaws clean, running, and sharp so we have less downtime. We keep a gas-powered air compressor in the trailer to use for blowing air on everything to keep it clean. We also store all the oil, gas, pruning spray, paper towels, and extra chains. We are well equipped.

We are located in Ozona, Texas, and will travel about 150 miles in either direction.Ozona is located on Interstate 10.

How long have you been in business?

We have technically been in the tree-trimming business for a little over a year. That being said, we have been in the ranching business for 6 generations. Being in the agricultural business lets you know a lot about trees. we tend to work on more ranches than anything, simply because we know more people in the country. My two employees, Danny and Maurice bring with them about 30 years of combined experience in the tree business. They know it well from trimming in the Hill Country for many years.

Will the current drought kill my trees?

Most people don't have a major sprinkler system to keep trees with ample water. With that being said, the 2021 freeze followed by very little water can be brutal on trees.

Do trees have to be trimmed yearly?

If you want your trees to be healthy, it's best to trim dead limbs and lift the canopy each year to lighten the load on the tree.

Is tree trimming dangerous?

Yes, tree trimming can be very dangerous if you try to do it yourself with limited equipment and knowledge.

Can trees affect the value of my house?

Yes, beautiful, healthy trees can be a major asset to your house. They provide shade to control the temperature in your home as well as keeping sun damage to a minimum. They can also be a liability to your home if left unattended.

Will insurance pay for tree trimiing?

That is a gray area. If you have a branch break and land on your roof, you might get lucky and they help you out, but not likely. Insurance companies are very picky about coverage of your home with trees all around. They definitely want them trimmed yearly.

What damage did the 2021 freeze do to trees?

Live Oak trees are normally not affected by a freeze, but we combined a freeze with a drought. What we see most often is having to cut dead limbs out of the tops of trees.

What is Oak Wilt?

Oak Wilt is an infectious disease in the Texas Hill Country mostly. It results from a fungus that affects mostly Red Oaks and Spanish Oaks. Liveoaks are less susceptible but according to readings I have found, their root system is wider. This causes them to transmit the fungus to other trees easier.

We always practice safe measures in cleaning all of our equipment with bleach between each job
